There are many different little creatures who live here. They are a bit shy at first, but I am sure you will grow to love them all, or maybe not. Try very hard not to step on any tails, tongues, or ears; as many of the inhabitants have medical conditions making these parts rather long and awkward. Don't stare in an obvious manner since many who live here have teeth and claws and sometimes they forget that humans make a horrible mess when punctured. Enjoy your visit....

Nocturne is the first monster that I created. I had learned to crochet when I was young but then I just stopped doing it. I picked it up again and the book I was using to re-learn had a pattern for a crocheted bear. I started the pattern and decided when I was done with the head that I did not want a bear, but this little guy was born instead. That was the beginning. This guy is made of plane old cheap black yarn his mouth, eyes, belly button, hair, tail and wing details are felted on. He is 11 inches from head to toe and 6 inches from butt to toe and his wingspan is 12 inches. 2005.
Polyphemus was my second monster. He is made of fluffy yarn, his eye is glass and paint, and his nose and eyes are felted on. He is 15 inches from head to toe, and 5 inches wide. His arms are 12 inches long. I named him Polyphemus after the cyclops in Homer's Odyssey from Greek Mythology. 2005
Bloodshot was made in 2005 from some fluffy material, feathers, vinyl, felt, fleece. He is 11 x 8 inches. I named him bloodshot because of his handsewn bloodshot eyes, which took a long time, and I was quite proud of them.
Monstole made in 2005 and is to be worn as a scarf around the neck. It is crocheted and is 43 inches long, and 4 inches wide. I named it Monstole because it is half monster half stole, I have made many since then and I think it is more a name of a type of monster than a name for one individual, so I feel kind of bad because that means that this one does not really have a name, maybe I should add a THE to the front of his name to define that he is the very first one. If you would like your own monstole to wear and love please click on the custom order button to the left.
Muge is made of nylon yarn he is 13 inches from head to toe and 10 inches from arm to arm and he has a 4 inch girth. His eyes are made of glass and are removeable from the sockets. Muge is the name of a Japanese alien character that I found online somewhere. 2005
Thrush is made from many ties sewn together and some super fluffy material...he is so soft. His tongue is a really cool checkered tie and unrolls to make a really long tongue specifically 23 inches long. He is 15 inches tall by 6 inches wide. His arms are 16 inches long. I named him thrush after the infection of the mouth simply because his mouth is so big and so red. ( I know thrush is usually white, but give me some wiggle room). 2005
Tongus is made of ties sewn together and some fluffy material. He is 10 inches tall, 8 inches wide, and inches from front to back. His tongue unrolls and can also be stuffed back into his mouth it is 9 inches long. I named him Tongus because of this Incredibly long tongue. 2005
Toofis is made of fluffy yarn and the two round things on top of her head are eyes and the two white things in her mouth are teeth, (it is obvious to me but I have been asked so I am starting to think I may be bias since I made her and all.) She is one of the smaller monsters I have made she is 9 inches tall and 3.5 inches from fingertip to fingertip. I had originally named her Charlotte because I named her in Charlotte NC while visiting my then boyfriend and now husband. Then I renamed her Toofis because so many people asked what those things in her mouth were. So the word Toofis has a story too. When I was in going to Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia I would go to Kells flea market as often as I possibly could. I was looking for dental tools for a jewelry class and I thought to myself that that is the perfect excuse to go to Kells. So I hunted all over asking everyone if they had any dental tools and one guy looks at me crosseyed and says, "For your toof-is-is." True story. You simply cannot make this stuff up... (2006)
Tri-eye is made of fluffy yarn and he is inches tall and inches wide. I was not feeling too creative when I named him Tri-eye for his three eyes which are made of glass and paint He is 10 inches tall, 8 inches from fingertip to fingertip and a 4 inch girth. 2006
Echorb is made from an old sweater and since that sweater is pretty porous I lined the inside of his body with vinyl and stuffed his limbs with another sweater. His nails are this rough sparkly material and his eyes are made from mirrors and vinyl. He is a really big guy. He is 12 inches from head to butt and his legs are 12 inches long. He is 7 inches wide and his arms are 12 inches long. I named him Echorb because he has mirrors in his eyes so his eyes (or orbs) echo the world around him. (That sounds really cheesy when I explain it.) 2005
Kissystole is a monstole and she is warn around the neck as a scarf. Her body is made from soft and sparkly yarn and her eye and mouth are made from yarn that has gold flecks in it. I made her to be in a show called Plush you 2 at a gallery in Seattle, WA called Schmancy . She is 34 inches from arms to toe, her tail is 12 inches long and her body is 4 inches wide. I named her Kissystole because she has kissy lips. 2006
Piehole's body and mouth is made of soft fuzzy yarn and the tongue is just soft yarn. He is 5 inches tall (not including the tail) and 6 inches wide with 10 arms. His tail is 12 inches long and his tongue is 9 inches long. I made him to be in a show called Plush you 2 at a gallery in Seattle, WA called "Schmancy" . I named him Piehole because the phrase "Shut your piehole" was popular at some point and when I looked at him finished that phrase popped into my head. 2006
Sanders is made of fluffy yarn for his body and beak, and something called cobble stone yarn for his wings and hair, and nylon yarn for his feet. His eye is handmade by me from plastic. I made him to be in a show called Plush you 2 at a gallery in Seattle, WA called "Schmancy" . He is 13 inches tall (not including the tail), 4 inches wide, with a wingspan of 14 inches and his tail is 17 inches long. I named him Sanders after Colonel Sanders from Kentucky Fried Chicken, I guess I just thought that a mutant bird could not really have any other name. 2006
Malia is made from super fluffy soft material and she has a corduroy mouth and a tie for a tongue. she is 8 inches tall and 11 inches wide and her arms are 24 inches long. I named her Malia after the bride who received her as a wedding gift. 2006
I made this little lady for my Mommy, the bestest mom in the whole wide world. I do not have measurements for her she is mostly sewn together with some details crocheted on and her eyes are handmade by me (okay so I am sort of lying because my husband drew them.) I named her Rosemary because the first picture that I took of her was in a Rosemary bush. 2006
Speck is a little guy that I created for the book, "Plush You! Lovable misfit toys to sew and stuff," by Kristen Rask. There is a pattern in the book so that you can make your own little speck too. 2008
Avery is named for my best friends son, who I made this guy for. I cannot remember what he named it so I just named this monster after it's new companion. I sure do hope his teeth don't get in the way of all the kisses he wants to give the original Avery. That could be messy. 2008
Olecranon is named for the bony prominence at the tip of the elbow because I thought that the name elbow was too obvious. (You may be thinking, "obvious to who?" well me of course.) I learned to turn a corner with the crochet on this guy, by that I mean that I was able to create a sock heel of sorts for the very first time. So of course I had to name him for this new skill. This turn is in his neck, which you cannot see because I took such a crappy picture of him. He was sold to my workmate Bev before he was even done crocheting his body. Maybe someday I can convince her to take a better picture of him for me. 2008
Monster Hat, yep, that is the creative name I came up with for this one. I made this for a friend's friend's baby. These hats make you the monster with all the monster traits you try so hard to suppress. 2008
These are the first monster hats that I ever made. They were a Christmas gift for my sister-in-laws, who really did not need any help being monsters. They are twins, can you tell? 2006
Here is my husband sporting his monster hat, as you can see he is in the middle of monster transformation 2006
Totter got his name because of how top heavy he is I tried to balance his humongous head with his little body by stuffing him with beans. it worked to a degree. Though he is sitill quite unstable, it is possible to get him sitting upright with patients and determination 2007
Googly Moogly is made of the ugliest yarn I have ever seen. I cannot even imagine what someone would use it for if not making a monster. This guy was made directly after Totter and he is truly stable, due to the benefit of tiny eye stalks and a proportionate body. 2007
Disco is made of shiny yarn and he loves to party. Here he is after an all night bender, he was not appreciative of making him go out in the sun. 2008
Furley is a monster that I made for my husband before he was my husband, I think he loves me for my monsters. He is named for the character in "Threes company." It was the first name that came to his head when he saw this little guy. I am not sure if that is a good thing or not, either my monsters resemble bad 70's television, or my husband watches too much bad 70's television. You can see my confusion. 2006
